Depending on the school you are applying to, you will most likely be required to complete courses prior to admissions. These are called your prerequisites. Be sure to verify that your classes are compatible and are able to transfer into the school in which you are applying.
These are generally your "core" classes. You can expect to complete basic courses such as:
Inorganic chemistry is the study of non-carbon containing compounds. This course generally consists of lecture and lab. (5 cr.)
Organic chemistry is the study of carbon containing elements and the bonds they form. You will likely be required to complete a chemistry series. I had to take two organic chemistry classes including labs. (10 cr.)
Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) is the study of the human body. A&P is separated into two courses. Each will contain lecture and lab. These classes are very difficult. Try and plan these courses with easier general classes. (10 cr.)
Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes within and relating to living organisms. You will need to complete the lecture and lab portions. (10 cr.)
Microbiology is the study of microorganisms. This was actually one of my favorite classes. Usually a general microbiology class will suffice. This course will contain both lecture and lab. (5 cr.)
