Generally, you will be required to have at least a 2.3 (C+) GPA to apply to most programs. However, due to the competitive nature hygiene programs it's best to strive for academic excellence. For example, I had a 3.81 GPA when applying for hygiene school and was still advised I may need a higher GPA for admissions.
This will vary from program to program. Each hygiene program will have its own admissions requirements. For each school, you will need to check their list of requirements prior to application. I have seen some school programs require a test for admissions consideration.
Generally yes, most programs will require vaccinations prior to attendance in clinic. Each school has different requirements. It is not uncommon for most schools to require Hepatitis B series, MMR, Tdap and/or current Td. Remember, you will be exposed to bloodbourne pathogens including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV.
